TOWN SERVICES GRASS CLIPPINGS AND BRUSH DROP-OFF NEW - HAZARDOUS WASTE INFORMATION GRASS CLIPPINGS AND BRUSH DROP-OFF STATION The Town of Salem will be offering dumpsters to dispose of grass clippings and brush beginning Monday, April 23, 2007. The dumpsters will be located on the West side of the garage at the Salem Town Hall ,9814 Antioch Road, Salem, WI 53168. This is a service that the Town is providing for the Residents of the Town of Salem on a trial basis. The Town has the right to discontinue this service at any time. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE Yard waste: The definition of yard waste is: Grass clippings' no more that two weeks old, small plants or flowers. All yard waste must be placed into biodegradable paper bags. No plastic bags shall be allowed. Approved yard waste bags can be purchased at any building supply or super center store. Brush: The definition of brush is: Tree limbs no more that 6 feet long with a maximum diameter of 6 inches, shrubs and bushes. All shrubs and bushes must be free from the dirt and debris. No stump shall be allowed. Please follow the above instructions so we can continue this service. GREEN VALLEY DISPOSAL, CUSTOMER SERVICE 1-800-583-2510 All refuse materials shall be collected between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the designated collection day. Please place all refuse at the curbside or where the street meets the front lawn. Your garbage should be in plastic bags or in 30 gallon containers no more than 50 lbs each. Anything not suitable for such containers can be bundled for collection and should not exceed four feet in length and two feet in diameter. Bulky Items such as furniture, carpeting, and mattresses need to be less than five feet long (with the exception of adult mattresses), less than 50 lbs. (With the exception of sleeper sofas), and placed curbside on regular collection days. White goods such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, etc. must be called in for pick-up. Simply call Green Valley Disposal, Customer Service Department at 1-800-583-2510. They will make arrangements to collect your white goods on the next scheduled white goods collection date. Green Valley will collect properly prepared recycling material on the same day as refuse. Every resident will be provided with an 18 gallon recycling container. Plastic Containers #1-7, glass bottles and jars, aluminum, and tin cans must be emptied, rinsed and cleaned, and placed in the recycling container. Newspapers, newsprint, magazines, phone books, and other mixed paper can be placed in brown paper bags or bundled by string. The bags or bundles can be placed next to the recycling container or on the ground next to it. Cardboard should be flattened, cut down into pieces no larger than 3x3 feet, and bundled by string. Our recycling vehicle will also collect waste oil provided it is in a leak proof, non-breakable, one gallon sized (Maximum) containers. Each resident may also place up to two tires per week for collection with a limit of eight tires per year. Large tires need to be quartered, and all tires must be off the rim. Car and Truck batteries will be collected as long as the battery casing remains unbroken. There will be NO refuse/recycling collection on the following days: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day All collections will be one day later when the holiday falls during the week. Friday collections will be done on Saturday. |
